It stops when there is nothing left to take.

We watch it.

Like it’s a performance.

But it’s just physics.

The fast way of turning life into carbon.

The wood.

The house.

The body.

It treats them all the same.

No ritual.

No mercy.

Just a chemical reaction

leaving a trail of gray dust.

It’s over now.

The smoke is gone.

The air is cold.

Everything is level.

Everything is ash.
